FRF DECISION GUIDE

Thinking about changing mortgage brokers?

You can ask for a fresh perspective. Start by understanding where things stand, what you have agreed to and what needs to happen next.

The short answer

Speaking with another broker is different from moving your home loan. Before asking a new broker to act, clarify any existing engagement, application status and agreed fees. A change of broker does not itself change your lender or loan contract.

Start with the question you need answered

Perhaps your plans have changed, an explanation was unclear or you would like another view of your options. Write down the outcome you want and the questions that remain open. At FRF, an initial conversation can help identify what information is needed; it is not a promise that a different lender or loan will be better.

If an application is already under way

Tell the new broker whether an application has been submitted, which lender is involved and whether there are contract or settlement deadlines. Agree who is responsible for each next step before making another application. Ask the existing broker or lender to confirm the application status. Do not assume that files, lender access or existing approvals transfer automatically.

Understand fees, scope and permissions

Read the credit guide and any agreement you have signed. Ask about any applicable fee and what work it covers. Ask the prospective broker which lenders they can access, how they are paid and why their suggested approach suits your needs. A broker panel does not represent the whole market. Only share documents through an agreed secure process and clarify permission before records are requested from someone else.

Prepare for a useful second conversation

Bring a short outline of your goal, timing, outstanding questions and the status of any current proposal. You do not need to email identity documents to start. If your concern is a complaint about previous service, keep a record of the issue and use the relevant complaints process; seeking another view does not replace that process.

Agree the next step before committing

Ask who will contact you, what they will need and how you will be kept informed. The useful outcome may be a clearer explanation, further checks or a new plan. It is not automatically a new loan. If you decide to proceed with FRF, we will discuss the information required for your circumstances.
