01Bring the options you are comparing
A house, townhouse and apartment can have different ongoing costs. Make a short list of the properties or property types you are considering, with any owners corporation information you already have. Your conveyancer can advise on the contract and title.
02Put everyday commitments on the page
Note childcare, schooling, transport and the other spending your household needs to maintain. This gives the conversation a practical starting point: how the proposed repayment sits alongside family life, rather than only a maximum borrowing figure.
03Set out the changeover
If you have a home to sell, bring the current loan balance, estimated selling costs and preferred moving dates. Include any gap between settlements and the savings you want to retain so we can identify the next questions together.
